Conventional wisdom says that houses don’t sell during the holiday months. My statistics will argue with that. Last December, we had TEN closings. Here are a few reasons why selling your home in the colder months is a good idea.
Empty Shelves. Lots of people do take their homes off the market toward the end of the year, and that means that the inventory is reduced even further than it already is.
Frightful Weather. Cold weather and early sunsets mean people stay in their homes more, and have more time to search around on the internet for homes.
Home for the Holiday. Most people have Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s off, and will use that unscheduled time to find their next home.
Tax Breaks. The end of the year means tax deadlines for investors and others. These people are very motivated to buy.
We love the holidays as much as anyone, and we think that it adds to the seasonal charm to be able to sort of play Santa Claus for buyers – and sellers. Don’t let the holidays put you off from trying to sell your home. Call me today at let’s talk!
